We are developing advanced laser and microwave diagnostics and studying high-temperature plasma physics on the Large Helical Device (LHD) at the National Institute for Fusion Science (NIFS). We have developed a laser imaging interferometer for measuring electron density profiles, and phase contrast imaging for micro-turbulence measurements. Recently, we have also focused on developing collective Thomson scattering diagnostics to measure bulk and fast ion dynamics. This laboratory is located at NIFS and belongs to the Kyushu University cooperative course for graduate school education.
